about

On June 25, 2018 I visited Tom Cabrera on his birthday. He just got his studio, Woodshedd, in full swing so we sat down with our instruments, played and recorded. As with all our previous records, nothing was prepared, we improvised complete songs. Auguri, by the way is the common Italian greeting for Happy Birthday, as if to say Best Wishes. An augur in ancient times was a soothsayer and the word in different languages (you can see in the song titles the word is in a number of different languages) also connotes prediction, omens and wish. This is a very special recording and covers much ground as we were "taking the auspices" as the augurs would do in tracking the paths of birds for a sign, an omen. – Jack DeSalvo
